SEI connects classrooms, campuses, and communities
SEI leads faculty professional development and curriculum innovation in sustainability and environmental education across the district. Our work bridges operations and learning, turning campus construction and facilities into living laboratories for students.
Programs & Learning
Through workshops, coaching, and the Demonstration Project, SEI supports educators in embedding environmental equity into every discipline—from political science to English. Faculty gain practical tools, shared resources, and a community of practice committed to authentic climate education.
Student Opportunities
With partners like Build LACCD, SEI has helped expand internships from nine to more than one hundred across the district. These applied experiences connect classroom learning to real jobs, advancing equitable access to sustainability careers.
Because of SEI, new campus construction is now part of the classroom—turning buildings and operations into living labs for sustainability.
Beyond the district, SEI collaborates with universities, Indigenous communities, and local partners to align policy, practice, and public engagement—so that climate learning leads to durable change.
